SVOJANOV

HISTORY

Settlement of Borušov and leisure centre. Originally, in the 15th century, land and settlement adjoining the Lišnice estate.

TOPOGRAPHY OF ITS VICINITY

Maletín

Starý Maletín dates back to the 14th century - Bishop's benefice in Mohelnice area. Nový Maletín was founded in 1779 through parcelling the Templ yard. In 1643 Maletín witnessed the battle between the emperor's and Swedish armies - Swedish army conquered. Since 1570 sandstone has been mined at Maletín quarry, used for the sculpture of Holy Trinity at Olomouc square. St. Nicholas Church dated from 1583, altered in Baroque style in 1803.

Mírov

From 1266 in the possession of Olomouc Bishop. In 1483 granted the title "town". Between 1258 and 1266 building of a castle on the rocky cliff.  In 1684 enlarged and transformed into fortress. Since 1855 used as a state prison. St. Margaret's Church dated from 1547. The brook of Mírovka (16 km long) springs at Maletín sandstone quarry and runs through a beautiful deep valley and joins the Morava river at Mohelnice.  

Studená Loučka

Village in the hills (530 - 550 m above sea level) dates back from 1381. In the 16th century part of Svojanov. Originally Gothic church ceased to exist, in 1750 Baroque church built.
